The Scary Statistics of Teen Dating Violence...

  • Teen dating violence can start as early as age 11 and carry through to the early 20s.
  • One in four tweens and 33% of teens report being involved in a violent dating relationship.
  • 1.5 million high school students have experienced physical violence from a dating partner.
  • Teens who are in an abusive relationship can experience developmental delays - stress reduces their ability to think, learn, and plan for the future.
  • 40% of girls age 14-17 say they know someone who's been hit or beaten by the person they are seeing
  • About 72% pf students in 8th and 9th grade report dating.  By the time they are in high school, 54% of students report dating violence among their peers.
  • A recent survey of schools indicated that there were an estimated 4,000 incidents of rape and other sexual assaults in public schools across the nation.
Don't be a statistic.

  1. The Winneconne Middle School journal drive was a huge success. The sixth grade classes donated the bulk of the journals with Mrs. Salm and Mrs. Hoppe's classes collecting 86 each. Total journals collected ~ 350!!!

Of course there are a few items that need to be sorted out; we ended up with a box of school supplies and a box of scrap paper notebooks that we are certain will be a huge hit in the craft room or the playroom at the Christine Ann Center.

We are so excited to have received so much support during the drive. We are so grateful for the help Mrs. Kaiser gave to us to keep the logistics within the school organized and running smoothly. Also, a huge thanks to Principal Mr. Schroeder for allowing the girls to have the drive. Winneconne is a great community and this just proves how caring our little village is.

    THANK YOU!!!
